The Color Room Special Edition Palette...

This month over at The Color Room, there is a Specail Edition Palette running throughout the month, alongside the usual palettes that are released every week. So since I realised yesterday that it is now the end of the month already, I got to work on it last night!

Instead of a layout I thought I would try my hand at a canvas. I have had this small one sitting around for ages but have no idea where it came from!

I used tissue and gesso to form the 'opening' in the canvas. Whilst it was still wet I pushed in the stems from the leaves and flowers.

I love a really contrasting title that stands out, so it had to be black :-)

And some green ink splashes added to the messy arty feel.

My Creative Sketch...

I love a challenge and this sketch over at My Creative Sketch (My Creative Scrapbook) was perfect for a change. It is not my usual style as the elements were quite bold with not a lot of white space but I adapted it enough to suit me.
I substituted one of the layers with the masked spritzing, one with the chipboard fence and another with some green mesh. I prefer to use embelishments rather than paper layers.

I embossed the fence with cream distress powders and bent it into shape before sticking it down.

Oooh, look, theres one of the Cameo titles again...how did I ever scrap without them??? :-)

TCR #108

Last week I was just drifting off to sleep one night and I pictured a layout in my head. Very sure it wasnt one I had seen before, and that someone else had not created it, I set to jotting down the details id imagined.
So finally, today, I had a chance to create it...or something similar! I chose a Colour Room palette from a few weeks ago that I hadnt played with yet and it actually came out even better than how I had pictured it.

For three of the tags I used embossing folders on them to add detail. Two of them were stamped in brown distress ink, and this one below was punched with the large Martha Stewart Punch All Over The Page Butterfly. I put a small strip of acetate behind it to adhere a smaller punched butterfly to.

Here again is one of the fabulous titles I cut out on my friends Cameo :) My birthday September hint hint ;)
I prefer to use flowers that are as natural looking as possible, so I have a mix of prima, Zva Creative and some flowers I got from a local events shop.
I used a brown distress ink dabber on the Kraft butterfly to add some subtle detail.
...and see those large ink splats behind the chickenwire? I discovered from a fellow crafter at the weekend that this is the effect you get when you drop an ink dabber...look out for much more of this effect on my pages!
Lastly, the leave I made I wanted to make as realistic as possible. They are diecut, then inked and crumpled. I shall hopefully soon post a more detailed step by step for these as they really are very realistic, even close up!

The Colour Room #111

This week, the palette over at The Colour Room is not the sort of colours I would usually use. However, I still had a photo that I knew would be perfect for it!
This photo was printed off recently but somehow I got the print settings wrong and chopped off half his head! Still...it focused on his mouth which often look like this, and it made me create a page about everyday things around the home (and the fact that oliver always fills his mouth like this!)

The white parts of the title were cut out on a friends Silouhette Cameo...if you dont already have one, or havent had a go with one, I strongly suggest you do...its AMAZING!!!

Otley Crop...

I finally got a chance to go along to the Papermaze Crop this weekend in Otley. Its been months since I last went, and I forgot how much i enjoyed scrapping with others.
This is one of the pages I created, and another I cannot show as its for the magazine.

I have been struggling with this photo for a while...not because of the colours or anything, but I just had no idea on the title. I like to decide what a title will be before I start scrapping so I can leave space for it etc.

The backing sheet is the reverse of a Kaisercraft piece, just it happens I have lost the name of it!

I also used...Tim Holtz tape, prima letter stickers, cream and white lace, Marrianne Desuigns Flowers and a borrowed die for the leafy swirls which I will have to get the name of again!

30 minute page...

I  love Wednesday mornings! It is the only time when both my kids are in school and nursery and I am not at work. So I get three hours of scrapping...well, i would have had three hours if the phone hadnt kept ringing...so this morning my three hours turned into a little over a half! However, I wasnt going to let it stop me creating SOMETHING!

So here is what I managed to make in half an hour....

I did try filming the process on my iPad too to prove it but now I cant work out how to get the video on my pc for editing...whoops!

I simply whizzed through my embellishment boxes picking out one or two bits from each that would match and pretty much 'threw' it all on the page!

...and now im back off to the school to collect the big one...fingers crossed I may get another half hour sometime soon :-)

a couple of cards...

Last weekend I had reasons to make a whole load of cards...which I often do, but very rarely show them on here! So I decided to quickly put up a few pics...

Also...I am looking at setting up a Facebook page with photos of my work and details of any scrappy news I think people should know...let me know what you think :-)
